Amiee J. Shelton, Ph.D., APR, MCIPR

Dr. Amiee Shelton holds the title of Professor in Strategic Communications/Public Relations in the School of Humanities, Arts and Education at Roger Williams University, teaching upper level courses in public relations and strategic communication focusing on data analysis and research methods.

As the former Program Director for Liberal Arts in the College of Continuing Studies, Dr. Shelton proven experience in the development, administration, and assessment of college communication and humanities curricula; demonstrated success in identifying and responding to trends and developing practices in undergraduate, graduate, and professional education in the broad field of communications, and has significant experience in instructional technology.

A Fulbright Scholar, and accredited in Public Relations from Public Relations Society of America, Dr. Shelton is widely traveled, and has international teaching experience. Prior to Roger Williams University, she taught at Texas State University and the University of Texas at San Antonio. She has previous experience in the television industry, working for Tribune Corporation, LIN-TV, The New York Times and Meredith Corporation. She publishes regularly in peer-reviewed journals on community engagement in classrooms, PR as a management function, curriculum design, and the impact of mass media on society. In addition, Dr. Shelton has sponsored over 25 student research papers/honors thesis since 2016.
